Allergology
Diagnosis and Treatment of allergies
To rule out and diagnose inhalant allergies (hay fever, dust mite allergy) and food allergies, we perform skin prick and intradermal tests as well as RAST tests. Insect venom allergies (bees, wasps) and drug allergies are diagnosed using RAST tests.
For severe inhalant allergies as well as insect venom allergies, desensitization therapy is recommended, which typically lasts three years. During this process, small doses of the allergen are injected into the upper arm at regular intervals, gradually building up tolerance to the allergen.
Contact allergies (nickel, fragrances, etc.) are detected using patch tests. We apply small patches containing the contact allergen to the back or upper arm, which are removed after two days. The results can then be read the following day.
