Digital Skin Cancer Screening
Diagnosis and Assessment of the Skin
The primary purpose of a skin screening examination is to diagnose and evaluate pigmented and non-pigmented moles (birthmarks) and to rule out skin cancer (melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma).
During the examination, the skin is thoroughly inspected, typically using a reflected-light microscope with 10x magnification. Notable pigmented lesions can be digitally documented with 20x (up to 100x) magnification to enable the detection and assessment of any changes during follow-up examinations. An additional evaluation of the moles using modern software (AI) is possible.
